Maybe D-Will Needed A Shot of Clotting Factor!

My favorite basketball player is Deron Williams of the Utah Jazz. A couple of weeks ago Deron went down with a leg injury. Team officials described the injury as a “moderate right quad contusion with reflective swelling in the right knee” — in other words, a bruised thigh that also caused his knee to swell.

deronwilliams1Williams suffered the injury during a game against the Portland Trailblazers. Portland center Greg Oden ran in Williams thigh during a screen. Williams said Oden ”set a screen on me and ran into me, ran into my quad, like right above my knee.” Williams actually finished the game scoring 35 pts but later experienced some serious swelling into his knee joint. ”It hurt the whole game like any bruise would,” he said. “But when I got on the plane, my knee just swelled up and it started hurting pretty bad. I couldn’t walk.” Later he was seen wearing a knee brace and having a difficult time walking.

OK hemophilia nation does this sound familiar or what? If I only had a dollar for every time my left knee and other joints did this growing up …….. My man Deron did not have a freaking “moderate right quad contusion with reflective swelling in the right knee” – DUDE HAD A KNEE BLEED! Maybe if I had drove down to the Jazz practice facility the following day and given him an infusion of clotting factor he wouldn’t have missed two games!

I heard a lot of fans grumbling that it was just a bruised thigh and he was milking it just to miss some games……. I got a lot of that growing up as a kid with hemophilia myself. “Why are you always on crutches” and ” You are a faker, you don’t have a broken leg”. We (hemophilia nation)  know exactly what D-Will was feeling that night …… his knee hurt like a mother %&*!!

So give the man a break Jazz fans. It takes a good week for that stiffness and swelling to go away and trust me – he was definitely not faking it.
